CASOP: A Requiem for Rice Fundraising Event
Beethoven’s “Kreutzer Sonata”
performed by violinist Anyango Yarbo-Davenport and pianist Gerard Aimontche.
Beethoven originally dedicated the sonata, also called “Sonata Mulattica,” to Afro-European violinist and composer, George Bridgetower. Bridgetower sight-read the sonata, which is notable for its technical difficulty and emotional scope. After a disagreement which enraged Beethoven, he removed the dedication to Bridgetower and replaced it with a dedication to Rudolphe Kreutzer who never performed the work.

RECEPTION, AND POST-PERFORMANCE VOCAL SERENADE, 5-9PM
