The Colour of Music Festival has partnered with the Duke Ellington School of the Arts which was established in 1974 in Washington DC.
This partnership provides a unique opportunity for students to expand their repertoire while affirming their place in the world of classical music.
The Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra on Thursday, March 14 at 7:30pm presents an all-female performance highlighting the contributions of black female composers, in honor of Duke Ellington School of the Arts co-founder, Peggy Cooper Cafritz.
The Orchestra and Chorale on Saturday, March 16 at 7:30pm presents Dvorak’s New World Symphony performed by the Colour of Music Chamber Orchestra, the Duke Ellington School of the Arts Orchestra and the Ellington Chorale.
A portion of the proceeds of this event will directly support the Instrumental and Vocal Music departments at Duke Ellington School of the Arts.
